Counselling for a better life

Counselling for a better life

What are you looking for in life right now? To reduce your stress levels? Perhaps you want to escape the past or feel less overwhelmed?

We set up Cheshunt Counselling to help with all these things. Our aim is to help you with your mental health, maintain your wellbeing and change your life for the better.

Everyone is different and that’s why you’ll want to engage with the best approach to meet your needs. By offering a range of different services and counsellors from a variety of theoretical backgrounds, we can find the right fit for you. They all work a bit differently but, in every case, you’ll be working with a trained professional and looking at yourself as an individual.

However, our services do all have one thing in common. That’s something that won’t change whether you attend as an individual or a couple. No matter what the issues or approach, the focus is on you talking about yourself. Being the centre of attention can make you feel a bit awkward! But don’t worry – we’ll do our best to make you comfortable whether you’re visiting in person or having a remote session. Trust isn’t something that happens overnight, but it should grow during sessions as we connect. As a result, you’ll feel able to open up and share knowing that you’re in a safe space.

What does counselling involve?

During your sessions, you’ll talk through how you feel with your counsellor. You might choose to focus on a specific issue such as bereavement, anger, or depression. The discussion will be supportive and explore how you feel without being judgemental. Additionally, you won’t be told what to think. It’s about exploring your thoughts and finding your own way to an outcome in an understanding setting.

Is CBT right for you?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy but unlike counselling, the focus is on the present rather than the past. You’ll look at what you think about something and the effect this is having on your feelings and behaviour. It’s become popular because it is considered to be effective for a wide range of issues including depression, phobias and some physical health issues such as fatigue.

Working with a life coach

You’ll be focusing on making positive changes in your life by setting and meeting goals. It’s still a talking therapy as you’ll be discussing why a target is appealing, what is holding you back and what you might do to reach it. Your life coach will support and empower you by helping you to identify your strengths. They‘ll also motivate you to achieve, examine your strategies and keep you accountable.

Affordable therapy options

We want therapy to be accessible to everyone who needs it. By offering a low-cost option, price shouldn’t be a factor in preventing you from getting support and space to talk through your issues and find a way forward in your life.
